If its true that there is a positive hiding in every negative, this story certainly epitomizes that. Imagine being a mother of four. Hard enough job, right? Now imagine being a mother of four while trying to care for a bed ridden husband with Stage 4 cancer who eventually passes away after a yearlong battle. Sad story, right? Yes, but God.
Jessica was now single with four beautiful kids. The prime candidate to simply give up on life and simply exist, she chose differently. A strong Christian and great mother, she poured herself into raising her children. There weren’t many free moments, but the few she managed to find, would find her on a rickety piano in the basement writing worship songs and praying that God would still fulfill her dreams of spending her life in ministry.
Now, meet Joshua, a thirty three year old bachelor who had also walked through a dark valley. Joshua’s story starts with success as an evangelist, television personality and radio show host and seemingly pauses with a break up that sends him spiraling into depression. After breaking up with his then fiancé, Joshua walked away from ministry, televangelism and ministry for a while. After taking time to heal, he had sworn off women, and started what is now a viral Facebook blog with nearly a million followers.
While helping inspire others and lead them to Jesus … he had no idea that he was about to meet the girl he had waited for his entire life. It all started with him sending her a message of condolence … and ends with them getting married, raising their children and traveling the nation telling their story of hope through Jesus Christ.

What a journey these two up and coming business owners have started. Through years of school and dedicated to defining their skill and becoming strong, knowledgeable stylists with creativity that never disappoints, these two have made the plunge and opened their own beautiful salon. Between the two stylists they have over 15 years combined experience and you can definitely tell when they’re cutting, coloring or styling your hair.
We spent the day doing Jenn and Sarah’s headshots for their website that is launching shortly. These two aren’t just stylists, they make my camera happy. And by happy I mean it’s pretty fun photographing the two of them. When you want your headshots done, first off all hire me, and second make sure you have options. You really want to have a couple outfit or top changes, makeup lightens or darkens, hair could go up in a few shots and then down for the remainder. I mean we are photographing hair stylists and makeup artists, they love different looks! And last, you really want lots of poses and expressions.
Salon headshots have to be one of my most favorite types. Want to know why? THEY LOVE HAIR AND MAKEUP! No standing in front of a blue wall or wanting those average not so great gray wall photos. I love the creativity you can use and the looks that you can do when you’re photographing outside the average office building.
Not only did I do headshots for both Jenn Warrick and Sarah Gould of Tre Sorelle Salon, but I photographed their amazing Bumble and Bumble products for their promos that will be coming out throughout the year. Something you definitely want to keep an eye out for as they always have new tips and tricks to share with each product that they’re featuring.
I hope to capture the true beauty of these two stylists and their beauty not just externally, but from within. And you really should visit their facebook page and website when it airs!
Spring time is here and with longer days comes so many great things about our slightly rainy, yet green state of Washington. Things like flowers blooming, green grass, families playing outside and children giggling while swinging on swings or exploring the parks. The Dahl family joined me at Ft Steilacoom Park in Lakewood Washington for a family photo session. Their two sweet girls were so much fun to photograph with so many expressions and most of all, those giggles you hope for! These two girls are definitely friends and love each other, but of course if you see their parents together you will see why. Scott and Ashley are most definitely in love as you can see from their photos together. This family was a great way to spend a Saturday! Chelsey and her husband are our of the many Military families that I work with. They are some of our most favorite customers. They are often the most warm hearted and kind people and that is definitely the case with this adorable family of (soon to be) FOUR. They are stationed here in Washington at JBLM and their growing family has it’s first boy on their way. We know their sweet little girl is going to just love up having a little brother.
Chelsey came to be and wanted something elegant and beautiful and we chose not to do a traditional outdoor shoot, but we wrapped her as I like to say in “love”. Love being Lace, Chiffon and any beautiful form fitting textured fabric. Chelsey was definitely down for the challenge. As you can see by her image below, she’s stunning and such a glowing second time mother. We think that you know what is to come when getting a second baby, or at least we know how much we fell in love with that first baby and how exciting it is just to think we get to do it all over again. What a blessing they are.

He was a handsome boy from Michigan and she, a southern girl with a great laugh. Kristin and Nolan met while snowboarding in Michigan one winter and fell in love instantly. They’re now on their way to marriage and as you can tell, couldn’t be any more in love. They’re country, chic wedding will definitely be featuring their sweet dog Dakota and honestly, once you meet him you have to fall in love with him. He’s such a sweet guy. There is often something missing amongst women these days, especially mothers. We don’t always feel our best. We don’t always want to show our true self. We often feel quite vulnerable and less likely to open up about our struggles of womanhood. Here’s a few reasons why it’s time to embrace yourself and start looking at life and your self in a whole new light.
Should we be confident? Yes! Are we? Probably not most of us. Why? Because we often have had children or life experiences that make us physically uncomfortable. Guess what!? It’s okay to feel that way, but know that you aren’t alone in this walk ladies. I have always struggled with my weight. I have struggled with all the “bad areas” on my body and that made me feel self conscious. Now I struggle with my extra mommy weight. Something that I should be able to either get rid of easily or mentally let go of right? WRONG! I am sure of it, if I lost every ounce of baby weight and looked amazing that I would still feel self conscious. It’s all in how we perceive our bodies and what we allow ourselves to accept. Ladies… YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! Whether or not you feel it doesn’t mean you aren’t. You are gorgeous. Makeup doesn’t define you, it simply enhances who everyone sees as the person you are inside and out.
Next time you look in the mirror, find 3 things you LIKE about yourself. Two eyes does not count as two things. Here are my top “I loves” about myself and my figure.
1. I LOVE my freckles
2. I like my blue eyes
3. I genuinely overall love my entire face (including my blonde hair)
4. (as we start to move south it’s not so easy huh?) I like my shoulders
5. I like my legs from thigh to ankle.
NOW! Here’s a little piece of past from me. I grew up and was a National Swimmer for the Tacoma Swim Club National Team in Tacoma, WA. I had huge thighs and huge shoulders. I couldn’t stand my legs. I couldn’t stand my arms. I couldn’t stand pretty much anything short of my face. And at that I had lots of acne and normal teenage issues until I hit about 24 and had my first baby at 25. Now what I didn’t know was that I had such huge legs and arms and shoulders because of the sport I loved and played on a daily basis. When I wasn’t swimming I was playing water polo and fast pitch. I guess you could say that I didn’t have a single hope for a long slender figure. It was who God created me to be and I just didn’t know how great of a thing it was. Looking back I’m sure we all can appreciate that figure we HAD.
What is my point in all of this? You probably didn’t love your figure when you were younger, you don’t like it now, but now that you have this figure and shape you love looking back at your old one. It’s time to embrace the one you’re living in! You are beautiful and you shouldn’t be afraid to be in front of a camera or anything else for that matter.
Here’s a beautiful session with a wonderful client of mine who by the way has a 6 year old and is absolutely gorgeous. Professional hair and makeup only enhanced her gorgeous face. Be happy with what God has given you and improve on it or not, you are worthy and beautiful and wonderful!

You get to see some of the beautiful before and after images from our first annual ladies night! This was our big send off for the extension of our brand and photography business for women who want glamour, boudoir and headshots. It was such a success and we had ladies who left so full of confidence and exactly feeling the way we desired them to feel (full of confidence and feeling beautiful!) I was so beyond excited and thrilled to start this tradition. Because we sold out and this is something that is so much fun we will actually be holding by annual ladies nights along with our Annual ladies night that is above and beyond. Ladies come and enjoy drinks and chat with girlfriends or meet new girlfriends and develop wonderful friendships and relationships all while getting pampered by Jenn Warrick and Sarah Gould then off to a mini boudoir or glamour session held by Katie Tyree Photography in her own studio space. Next time this comes around I promise you wont want to miss out!
